Culturally what would you like to learn or experiece from Asian Culture?

I'm shocked and amazed this thread never got answered!

Maybe we can strike it up yet again. It got enough views after all!

1. What would I like to learn from Asian culture? I like the principles that Buddhism stands for. I like the health that one gets from it. At one point I wanted to join the bhikkuni, but decided that I like my hair and sex too much to do that to myself or to others. I don't think I'd be at peace with a bald head.

2. Foods I'd like to try? Hmmmm, that's hard to say. I love Indian, Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean. I can't stand Japanese or Sushi/Sashimi, but maybe that dangerous poisonous fish would be interesting. They say it makes ones mouth tingle. I think if I'm on my deathbed, I'll try that. Just in case.

3. Cities or ruins I'd like to see? Back when I was younger I wanted to be an archaeologist, so cities, nah, but any ruins would be cool. Xi'an especially. Ok, I take it back...I'd love to go to Phuket, regardless of the tsunamis. It's gorgeous there. Ghosts and all.

I think this thread just got swallowed up by all the others that were posted at the time.

Anyway, I will answer it now too.

I think what I would like to learn most at this point is different Asian languages. I am already a Buddhist. I have been one for quiet a while now. And having Asian men in relationships in the past, I don't feel I need to learn that side in more depth (I am not saying I don't want another relationship with an Asian man, just I have experience in it already is what I mean). However, I really would love to learn how to speak and read Chinese and Japanese as well as getting more in depth with the Korean language. I know it's very difficult and would take a long time, but just knowing I am trying would make me feel so much better.

I would love to see all over Asia. It's something I want to see before I leave this life.. which hopefully is not for a very very long time.

What i would like to learn or experience from Asian culture? Secret of youth (just kidding) traditions and customs of asian cultures, their way of life in particular. I would also like to learn how to read and write in Chinese and Korean.

I'd like to experience Lunar New Years in particular, and maybe local holidays; like Chuseok in South Korea, or Lantern FEstival in China, or some holidays in Japan.

Foods? Hmm i don't think i can answer teh question. My fav asian foods are Japanese.

Sites and cities? Japanese samurai houses, or castles, KOrean castle, the mountains, etc.Oh, i'd like to see the Great Wall of China.

Hmm, what would I want to learn from Asian culture... I think i would like to tackle an Asian language. Japanese or Chinese I think.

I would like to try Vietnamese food, i keep hearing its excellent, unfortunately its not easy to come by where i live.

a whole year of experiencing all the holidays and festivals would be great, and while there id try anything once! i would like to visit japan, see harajuku bridge and dress up!

Ahhh, Harajuku on a Sunday. And then you can walk down to Yoyogi Park to see the Japanese Elvis' (Rockabilly Gang) and other street performers.

No way there are just too many stores that conq would be sucked into...She'd never get out of the first street....lol
