I follow the custom of removing shoes before stepping into my house. Any Asian household I have entered, I have automatically removed my shoes without even being asked.

Yes, I expect my non-Asian friends to comply with this before entering my house.

I'm like Pro.. If it's an asian house I automatically take my shoes off. The staring eyes of the owner gives you a big clue. LOL. For non-asian households I tend to ask the owner if they want me to remove my shoes as a courtesy. Younger generations don't care but older european generations will ask or mention the same.
