I think it's a Chinese thing. All those Chinese languages have many tones. I mean word by word. When Chinese people learn Western languages that don't have those tones they might have a problem to pronounce it right. It's the melody of English, German, French etc. that is a problem to them because they don't use it in Chinese.... Some Chinese people have more problems with it some less.... Just a guess..
