Korean Fanship Phenomena: Blessing or Curse 2

Korean AntiFans or Netizens do more than just insane jealous bashing of celebrities or their fans. These Antifans will go to great lengths to tarnish the reputation of these prepackaged popstars and the fans who love them.

They spend time forming anti-groups and write what they call fanfiction that depict celebrities dying horrible deaths. Some have spend time breaking into personal websites, such as cyworlds, and hacking messages to ruin celeb reputation or caused them pain. While others actually kidnap, accost, and poison these celebrities.

Hacking or Flooding Cyworld AntiFan Hobby:

Park Ji Youn, Bae Seul Ki', BoA, Hyori Lee, Danny (from G.O.D) and Suju Members Sungmin, DongHae, Leetuek, ShinDong, and Kangkin all have had their cyworlds hacked into.

The Hacker in Bae Seul Gi’s case deleted files and used the blog to personally attack another Cyworld user who bashed BSG. Which made fans/antifans battle their disagreements even more. BSG got her cyworld back and explained the situation.

In the cases of the BoA and Danny the Hacker blackmailed them saying he/she will reveal all the private photos if they don’t pay up. Boa actually ended up paying a large sum although later hacker was later caught and revealing that the hacker also was responsible for Hyori Li’s cyworld.

Suju members who have had their cyworlds hacked reported that small things happened like the background music was changed to another boyband or rockband. They close these and then reopen new accounts but they are always a target.

After some Suju members were in a car accident antifans flooded Leetueks Cyworld. The Member tried to reason with people via blog entries but that just to seem to enrage the netizens even more.

Although we know those who commit suicide are people who have mental sickness or depression these actresses noted were openly scarred by antifans and hurt by the great lengths people have gone to ruin their reputations. All three girls were at the height of their careers awaiting blockbuster movie releases, new albums and new series.

Actress Jung Da Bin (27) noted that she was tortured by plastic surgery rumors by netizens before she committed suicide. Singer U;nee (26) also was open about the negative comments on her success and reputation that Netizens caused her before she too committed suicide. And last Actress Lee Eun Ju (25) who sighted that netizens as well as her family would not accept her after her doing nude scenes in a film even though the films were critically acclaimed.

DongBangShinKi’ member U-know has been the mark several times for threats and attempts to hurt him. The band member had to be hospitalized when he was poisoned by a juice drink containing super glue. During a taping of Happy Sunday Heroine 6.

The female suspect, whose surname is Ko was apprehended and identified as a member of an anti-DBSK website (Cassiopeia) for over two years.

In a threatening letter to U-Know she states…

“You watch your mouth! Ever since the debut you people (members of TVXQ which is how they are also known) were so stuck up. (middle fingers) You people won't last after a couple years... You would be forever seen as some teen idols not real singers. Do you know your limit? [The limit is that] Only little kids like you!...I really want to kill you.”

After this poisoning incident, Suju member Heechul (who is a junior to DBSK) kept telling the antifans via cyworld and groups to pick on him instead. The antis then responded, "Don't worry, you're next".

Yoon Kye Sang from Jype group G.O.D. was also victimized by antifans drinking a concoction of laundry detergents and bleach, she needed to be hospitalized. This incident was also claimed to be the world of Cassiopeia and Ko in another letter.

Famous People with Antifans

Rapper Dancer Jang Woo Hyuk From H.O.T. and J.T.L … as well as Lee Minwoo from Shinwha both had AntiFans reserve tickets making them unavailable for purchase for actual fans who wanted to go. This has happened more than once.

Rumor Mill

Singer ChaeYeon / Suju Member Heechul had to fight rumors that they were dating. Heechul openely defended Chae Yeon.

Someone posted up that Actress/model Byun Jung Soo was dead. It was a quite a shock for Byun Jung Soo since she was alive and well..

Rain/Hyori were rumored to be sleeping together since they were closely practicing for several perfomances during award ceremonies. The Rumor goes “While on Danny ahn's Radio show Kim Tae Woo asked Rain on the phone if he slept with her and he said YES”
Yet there are no recordings of the show. More so they said that JYPE studios covered up the rumor by paying a member of a rock band to expose himself on a MBC music program. Rain/JYPE filed a lawsuit against the people who kept printing these rumor and won in court.

Fly to the Sky’s Brian was targeted by Korean Nationalist Netizens during the 1010 radio program. He was asked about a incident where American Soldiers had accidentally ran over two korean girls with tanks. It was headline news because the soldiers weren't prosecuted for murder and it raised a lot of anti american sentiment. The DeeJay Questioned Brian what he thought about Americans and the issue.

Brian who was Born In Los Angeles, Raised in New Jersey said the two soldiers shouldn't represent all of America and defended why relations between two countries were important not to strain.
"You can't talk badly about the United States in front of me.. I'm an American. Please only hate the American soldiers (responsible for the incident)."

As word spread Brian was misqouted as defending the soilders error and he was targeted with a great backlash.

Brian tried to apologize by saying

“Unfortunately, during our program, I might have said something that some people took the wrong way...I wanted to make clear that the people involved with the incident are guilty and should face proper punishment. I also understand that the officers involved said that they were not guilty, which in fact they were. Even if they said that it was an accident. They still caused the accident and for that should be willing to face what comes to them. That is what I wanted to point out and but, since my KOREAN isn't 100% good, I believe what I said threw a lot of people off I would like to take the time to apologize. Please do not be upset with me for this misunderstanding.”

When Suju Member Kang In received knee surgery he was told not to perform by doctors since it may do more damage and not heal right. He ignored the doctors and chose to perform and then fell into the audience. During the performance the group kept dancing not noticing he fell. Antifans took this time to acutally stomp on his leg and cuss at him.
