gold itself is what around $800 an ounce right now. So is it the minting process that makes this an investment peice? or the fact that it's collectable? I was just curious as to why the huge markup

It's pure marketing. At 1/25 oz per coin that makes it 1oz total of 0.999 pure gold for 25 coins?? Doesn't make sense for a coin that's as thin as a dime but size of a penny and selling 3X the current rate for gold bullion. I'm keeping my money in my wallet. Commemoration or not.
