Calling all small car enthusiats.. Guys, just need your opinions on best small car as to value, maintenance, and of course the biggie - MPG. Posting this thread on behalf of a friend. Essentially, he's looking for a used small car no older than a 2004 model, 4 door prefer, standard/auto doesn't matter. Given that basic criteria, what's the most economical small car brand that's available in US?? MPG being the primary qualifier.. Post pics, stats, anything. Thx.

cheap, fuel efficient, reliable.

i hope he isn't in a rush to get to places cause the car is slow as!

i heard the mazda 2's are pretty cool too!

well i don't know much about cars, but i drive a mini cooper S and i love it! probably a little more expensive than a yaris, but the mileage is pretty good and it's great for both city driving and for road trips (as long as it's just two people. Despite it's reputation, i have managed to squeeze 6 people into my car for a short ride, though 4 of them were petite asian girls...it's a great car though!

Yea, my mom's friend has a Toyota Yaris (formerly the Echo) and she is always bragging about her gas mileage. She said she gets a combined mileage rating of like 45mpg. I think the Yaris is cute egg shaped little car. I always see one parked on my street.
