S'pore Grand Prix: $6,973 per head
Tickets: $6,973 per head
By Christopher Tan Publisher:The Straits Times - Publication Date: 04-01-2008 It may be eight months to the SingTel Singapore Grand Prix, but car companies are already gearing up to reserve tickets for valued customers. Ferrari distributor Hong Seh Motor was first to pop the clutch. It sent out an e-mail yesterday to gauge how many of its Prancing Horse owners and corporate clients would want seats--at around S$10,000 (US$6,973) per head. The price will buy a seat in the Scuderia Ferrari Paddock Club. Located 'just one level above the Scuderia Ferrari garage', it offers an up-close-and-personal view and feel of Formula One's favourite team. Access is for race day on Sunday (Sept 28), as well as practice sessions on Sept 26 and 27. If these paddock tickets--the priciest available--are too stratospheric, Hong Seh is also offering the S$6,000 (US$4,184)-per-head Marina Club Suite seats just opposite the pits. This single-level suite is an enclosed air-conditioned dining facility offering a 'five-star menu and its own bar'. Needless to say, the paddocks also offer fine cuisine and drinks. The prices include GST and handling fee, as well as 'memorabilia and entertainment'. Hong Seh spokesman Charmaine Khoo said she has had "several enquiries", adding that no one has asked for discounts yet. Ferrari owner Kevin Kwee, 37, is looking at the Marina Club Suite, but has not made up his mind. "Definitely, we will go. This is part of history in the making," said the car-and-property entrepreneur. BMW Asia, which is also garnering tickets for customers, might set aside about 100 seats for valued guests and business partners. Spokesman Michael Lim said: "It's a tradition for us to have paddock facility to host our very important guests." He added that, if there is demand, either his company or BMW agent, Performance Motors, would help BMW owners buy tickets. Daimler Singapore has also "block-booked tickets for distribution". Less-pricey tickets are available at F1's inaugural night race, including Stamford Grandstand Suites which start from S$3,000 (US$2,092) each. General grandstand tickets are expected to start from S$275 (US$191). |
