Interesting set of vids. I'm beginning to like Chris Harris' hosting. Really does know his stuff and not just a mouth piece like most armchair tv hosts. Impressed by his ability to both drive and remain calm as a host at the same time.

I saw that 24hrs of LeMans a few years back. That grey sleek mercedes flip over end to end at 180mph. Took like a jet. The driver was lucky it landed right side up or he would be killed instantly. The MacLaren guy was the same team leader as its sister F1 team. He called off the race after that. Aerodynamic problem.

Chris Harris is definitely one of my favorite editor/host. He is very knowledgeable about the cars he talks about. Sometimes he might call something the wrong name but information he provides about a feature or certain aspect of a car is very concise yet illustrates an image in your head.
Supposedly Chris Harris, and two other of my favorite car reviewers from evo magazine have left their posts to provide a more serious alternative to the likes of Top Gear and Fifth Gear. Here is a video from Winding Road magazine. They followed the Aston Martin team at the Nurburgring 24 Hours. At 2:11 into the video you will see the Richard Meaden, the editor who is supposedly leaving evo with Chris Harris, talking to an engineer about rear end grip of one of the V8 Vantage N24 racecar he is co-piloting. Richard Meaden did this video as well. I think that McLaren Mercedes CLK-GTR flip happenned back in either 1998 or 1999. Talk about a scary moment. It happened to Porsche in the American Le Mans Series when one of the GT1 took off at the Road Atlanta circuit. |
