What really works for puffy eyes
source: Shine: Fashion and Beauty, Healthy Living, Parenting, Sex and Love, Career and Money, Food, and more - Shine on Yahoo!
You've heard the rumor that Preparation H works on your puffy peepers, but real science says that using butt cream on your eyes may actually be dangerous. Find out how to de-puff safely. You remember hearing the rumor that every fancy model/actress uses Preparation H to de-puff her eyes? You remember thinking this was kind of gross and then thinking—maybe after a night of too much sushi and/or debauchery, maybe when you had a job interview after said sushi or debauchery—that maybe you should try it? Well, over the weekend, the science nerds at the truly excellent blog the Beauty Brains debunked the butt cream-for-your-eyes myth, suggesting that it is not only minimally effective, but can actually be harmful to your skin (and obviously, your eyes if you accidentally smudge even a speck below or above the lid). That's because Prep H contains hydrocortisone, which has been shown to cause skin thinning, increased skin fragility and enlarged blood vessels. Not something any of us wants to f with. So what's a girl with undereye luggage to do? The Beauty Brains folks suggest first diagnosing the source of the problem. Bags can be caused by everything from dehydration to allergies, so you need to know where yours are coming from. They then recommend old-school therapies like cool-water compresses and head elevation (products with peptides may also provide a temporary fix). It's not sexy, I know, but it's certainly better than explaining to an ER doc how you burned your eyeballs out with a hemorrhoidal salve. |

i can never sleep lol...every time i sleep for the past 2 years or more i have nightmares , its always the same nightmare but has gotten more frequent recently scares me so badly that i wake up sweating and crying. you'd think after 2 years of this dream i wouldnt be scared anymore.... *shrug* needless to say i've tried alot of things to stop nightmares, getting to sleep isnt the problem i can get to sleep, its staying asleep thats the trouble. last night for example, i went to bed at about 10:30, laid down fell asleep, woke up at 11:30 from the nightmare, stayed awake untill 6:20 this morning, slept untill 7:00 then woke up to the alarm clock. whenever i have the nightmare then try to sleep again, (dont think im crazy) but i hear voices and my bed shakes and i get up cuz its scary. all in all i get about 2-3 hours of sleep per day for the past few months, and before the last 3 months i got 5 or less a night. my eyes look like hell lol i've tried everything from OTC treatments to herbal treatments and nothing makes the puffyness and dark circles go away.

Dang Siren. Sounds like you also have some kind of restless spirit hanging around (bed shaking and voices?). I know you know to burn sage, right? Sounds like you need to talk to a professional who can help you find out where this nightmare is coming from.
I think it's a manifestation of something you are afraid of and is presenting itself into your dreams etc. The cucumbers and tea bags (Like MG said) works for me all the time. But then again, I get normal hours sleep.

ive gotten ambien a few times to make me sleep, it does help but as soon as the 7 they give you (they wont give them for longer) are gone the sleeping problems come back. the nightmare is so graphic that i wont write it here. but trust me it doesnt stem from anything in me. its often so real that i wake up with real injuries or wake up with my body feeling tired like i was really running from something |
