Indian bread - naan with just about anything. Great little cafe/restaurant in Little India that serves it. Yum!
Chinese - just about anything. Cow's tongue is a bit gross but prepared properly can taste good. Japanese - udon noodles that's a bit roasted in flavor. Vietnamese - dac biet pho Korean - japchae, that stringy spagetti. Hot as hell but taste good. Filippino - roast pork slices on a stick. Kinda taste like BBQ pork but less flavor which I like. . |

I love
-Thai (almost any dish that doesn't have flat noodles in it) -Vietnamese (I have only had their angel hair/vermicelli dishes. Must try some of their rice dishes) -Chinese (of course not the fast food variety, though of course I eat that. I really like this fried noodle dish and chinese broccoli) I like -Japanese (I just recently tried soba noodles. After reading about them in mangas or seeing it in anime I was very curious and it was good. I also like spicy tuna rolls and california rolls. I really like eating them with soy sauce, wasabi and ginger. The combination of taste is so good.) -Korean (I have only had one Korean dish some years ago. It was ok. It was some rice dish with these thin and long mushrooms, the only mushroom I will ever eat, because they are crunchy. I put a lot, and I mean a lot, of hot sauce in it becaue without it, there wasn't much flavor.)

I'm Cantonese-American--my preference is based on nourishment (so hearing someone say that raw sea urchin replenishes the yin, I can relate; or if I ever drink soup that I say is too salty, it might taste like water to someone else).
Before I was five, I had already tried food ranging from sushi to balut. Of course these days, I usually go for pasta or Subway sandwiches. I'm American, goddamnit! Not my secret stash of chicken feet! Just kidding. My more common top favorite food(s) is probably sushi (especially uni, toro, ikura, and the creamy scallop). I love raw oyster or Chinese steamed oysters with ginger and soy sauce. Hong Kong-style yauk si chow mein, which is fried noodles. Steamed lobster, crab in a variety of styles, and fried clams are also good. Beef tendon soup is also good. The less common top favorite foods I enjoy include: fish stomach soup, shark's fin soup, and bird's nest soup. I also like kidneys and sweetbread marinated in lemons and onions. There's one thing I haven't been able to stomach in my life (although, I probably won't try dog, baby mice, or steamed cockroaches if offered), and that occurred a few years ago in a Thai restaurant where I worked. The cook there had mixed some kind of Laotian dish that constituted of what I swear was raw fish with scales and guts put into a blender with lemon juice sprinkled on top. I nearly gagged from the texture, but the taste itself was like fish guts and lemon juice. It was apparently a delicacy to the workers. Where am I? Who are you? I'll beat you both apart! |
