Blogs for shutterbugs
Blogs for shutterbugs By Niño Mark Sablan
Publisher:Philippine Daily Inquirer - Publication Date: 27-06-2008 It would be safe to say that photographers take pictures so they can show it to others. And with the Internet, showing off your shots has become so much easier. Joining a community blog can help promote your photos even more, as you reach more like-minded individuals. The following sites are packed with images that will surely keep you clicking and uploading for some time. Fotojournals http://community.livejournal.com/fotojournals Think of this site as photographers’ show-and-tell session, or better yet an online exhibit. Feast your eyes on image after image after image. Styles abound, from black-and-whites to macro shots, from night shots to personal portraits. Subjects range from favorite relatives to beloved pets, challenging action shots to landscapes and vacation photos. Whatever style or subject you fancy, you are sure to find it here. And since it is a community blog, you can always join, upload your own photos and patiently wait for the comments of other members. The Polaroids http://community.livejournal.com/the_polaroids Camera company Polaroid recently announced that it would no longer produce Polaroid cameras, much to the dismay and disappointment of Polaroid fans worldwide. Fanatics have surfaced in cyberspace to pay tribute to those iconic white-bordered instant photos. Quite expectedly, you’ll find lots of scanned Polaroids in this blog: snapshots of family, friends, relatives, strangers, places, pets, inanimate objects, nature, food and a lot of abstract art and randomness. There are also some posts on terrific Polaroid collections and displays. From time to time, entries from users sharing personal Polaroid stories, asking for tips or selling extra cameras also appear. The Polaroid camera may be headed for extinction with the arrival of digital photography, but the love for this icon will always be around, thanks to sites like this. Underwater Photography http://community.livejournal.com/uw_photo For underwater photographers, marine enthusiasts, snorkel fanatics and scuba divers, this community blog is a treasure chest inside a sunken ship. It overflows with excellent-quality pictures of various sea creatures: manta rays, hammerhead sharks, jellyfishes - you name it, it’s here. While the site is mainly in German, most entries have English descriptions and translations. But it’s not as if you need to read the captions. The amazing photos are reason enough to visit the site. The type of camera used and the location (including the Philippines!) are also mentioned in entries. |
