I wasn't real sure where to post this but since it's pretty random I'm posting it here. My application to go to Fairycon 2008 was approved , here's my approval email.

Once again, FaerieCon will be the largest gathering of faerie artists in the world, featuring very special Guest of Honor, FAERIES and LORD OF THE RINGS artist, Alan Lee. Tickets sales are above last year's and with our increased advertising and marketing campaign, we expect over 10,000 attendees this year.

Since I'm not really made of money as a single parent, I can't afford the 800 dollars for a booth plus travel expenses. My cousin was going to help me but now she's decided not to go to this event. It's extremely important to go to this in the fantasy art industry and is often where budding artists are "discovered". so after sitting and thinking on how I can still attend without the help of my cousin, The thought came to mind that I could find sponsors. Surely there are good willed semaritans out there who just want to see single moms succeed in life yes? So my question is how would I go about getting sponsors or donations in the sum of about 1500 (for the booth, travel and lodging) before the deadline (about 15 more days left to get a booth i hear) to be able to attend this function?

you can take your letter to a local organization/chruch, aim high and pick a company try to reach them daily, have a portfolio available to show your stuff!! even advertise in your local towns paper? great extreme's cause for great measure's!! usually people want to support "one of their own" good luck!! and congrats!!!

see if you can give a deposit to get your booth! i was doing some research in my state, and we don't require a license to do fund raising.. make a small galleray of your work, ask a local store to "set up shop" and do your thing.
