crazy cat lady doll

What is it with my family and animals this month? I swear there must be a full moon or some sort of crazy has put on a curse or something.

Yesterday while I was sleeping my mother agreed to take care of my cousin's cat. To put it in a nutshell, my cousin got a divorce. The ex wife is a gambler and after he deeded the house to her so that it was only in her name, she lost all her money, then played hooky at work and lost her job, and then...got foreclosed on. She and the kids have been living in the house for the past 6 months waiting to be locked out basically. My cousin has been living with his mother for the past year. My aunt agreed to take the kids in as they have a separate room for them anyway. The ex wife put the dog down (bitch) and was going to just put the cat outside and leave. The kids told there dad, and so he rescued the cat even though he didn't get to the dog in time. My aunt has two dogs. Both are shelter dogs (cocker spaniel and pit bull). She also has two cats one of which was rescued by my mother's friend and then we gave him to my aunt as we had too many ourselves at the time.

Now that we have the background out of the way...

Mother gets the call that they have nowhere for this cat to go. Can we take it in?

Instead of talking it over with me, she just says yes and tells me about it when I woke up.

Here is my problem:

a. I have asthma. I am not on any medication since my cat passed on months ago. I only get flare ups when I am sick or when the fires in California are bad. I will probably have to go back on some form of inhaler. I also have been diagnosed with a problem with my liver of which I'm taking care of...the inhaler is not going to improve that. I'm not even allowed by my physician to take an advil. Not to mention the fact that inhalers are expensive and my insurance doesn't pay for meds.

b. I just bought furniture less than a year ago and am still paying on it. Cats shed and claw. Shedding can be taken care of with sticky tape. Clawing cannot. Some cats don't claw. I asked my cousin if the cat claws furniture. He said yes. No way do I want my brand new furniture ripped to shreds by a cat that isn't even mine. Cats sometimes puke. I can just see my brand new furniture soaking up cat puke which has turned funny colors due to the cheap cat food they want us to give the animal.

c. I just lost a cat a few months ago and it devastated me. I don't want to get attached to yet another animal just to have them take it back when he gets on his feet. Who knows, my cousin wants a house but with the housing market as it is and with him staying there at the house for over a year now and still not being any closer to getting one, we may have the cat forever. It's not unreasonable to assume he'll be there forever. And if he is, then I'll get to see the cat die. And that will kill me if I get attached.

d. my mother is nucking futs! She is threatening to kill the dog! And yet she accepts taking care of this cat? She shouldn't have an animal.

Anyway, so I called my cousin and asked about the clawing. Even after all these reasons, I would still be willing to take the animal on a temporary basis providing they declaw (of which I'm not a fan) or get those tips that glue on their nails so they won't shred furniture. he then said not to worry, that he would just keep the cat in the room that he is staying until the pit bull gets used to the cat and doesn't kill it. I repeated that I wouldn't mind to have the cat and if he changed his mind to bring it right over. I can't have the cat die and I can't have the cat be put down either. But why should I have to make concessions for bad planning? They knew this cat needed a home. The house has been foreclosed on for over 6 months!!!

So I receive a call from my aunt asking what I said to my cousin. I told her. She immediately hung up on me. Thinking maybe that she had to talk with him or do something else, I waited and then called her back later. She told me that she didn't want to talk to me and hung up on me yet again.

Anyway...I'm tired of my mother not considering me and my health problems. I've always been told to love animals. And I do. I just believe that human life has got to take presidence over animal life. If my quality of life is worse off and my material possessions are ruined because of a cat, it's just is wrong. Had I known I was getting a new cat 6 months ago, I would never have bought new furniture and I would have kept living in a sty. Why buy nice things if they are going to be shit before you have even paid for them? Had I known I would have to go back on medication, I would have not bought any of this, including my new bedroom set of which I can't move from my room and I would have just moved out.

I guess I'm just pissed because my aunt hung up on me over a cat and didn't even hear what I had to say. My family has always loved animals above people. Maybe if I had cute ears and fur, she's take what I had to say into consideration.

but as for your problem, dont feel obligated to do anything you dont want to do or are incapable of doing because of a medicle problem, being family they should understand that you have asthma

You know, I have asthma also and I followed a friends advice and went on a regiment of two espresso's a day for a year. The strong coffee will relieve an asthma attack.

Well I have not used an inhaler in nine years now. I think this is a form of "cure" for asthma.

When I was younger I had to had an atomizer with me at school, home and in the car, because my asthma was so bad, I was in hospitals monthly for the problem.

Had the same problem as I got older but after the regiment of Espresso I have not had any troubles.

You should try it, even if you get some instant coffee and make it really strong that should work. Just two shots twice a day.

hehehe....crazy is the optimal word! I swear my whole family has gone bonkers. I definitely don't want to be one of them. I was just thinkin' maybe I just need to get laid and this stuff wouldn't bother me as much.

all kidding aside, yea that might help . lol

yeap thats true, my 6 year old has asthma and his doc told me to give him coffee. it relaxes the bronchial tube. i know how it sounds, "oh give a child coffee, great parenting ! *sarcasm*" but its only about 1/4th coffee and the rest milk lol but it DOES help, he uses his inhaler less (which has more side effects than the coffee imo!)

Yes I hear it clears up the sinuses and heals cancer too.

Let's not forget it also cures celulite and bags under the eyes!!!
