I am currently reading this book called "The memoirs of Jacques Casanova." I got to this part in the book where he meets this gal and they are off to Constantinople. Anyway Casanova wanted to marry this gal but he had second thoughts about telling her the truth that he doesn't have a stable employment and he is always travelling. Anyway, he told Theresa the truth and she still accepted him regardless and they will work things out together. He asked her a question and she says that she alreadly knew him just by looking at him and her perceptions about him when she met him is true. Here's my question for you guys and gals.

Does your first impression of a person always correct? Do you trust your intuition when you first meet someone or do you need more assurance that this particular person is someone you are interested in dating or having a long term relationship with?

My first impression of a person only works if I don't really like the person. This feeling of dislike will cloud how I interact with the person from day of meeting and on. From experience a person I don't particularly like from first meeting doesn't change the way they act to get me to like them more than a distant friend or acquaintance.

When I have a neutral or positive reaction to someone as time goes on my feeling can go to liking them more or not liking them. I only come to like a person, wanting to date/have a relationship with them after getting to know them for sometime. My heart is moved by a person's character.

I am able to tell to a certain extent when I first meet someone, if they are a good person or not. But only to an extent. I have to get to know them more.

Like forgetting4u, I can pretty much tell instantly if the person is bad or something.

I have a sixth sense for morons, idiots, and imbeciles. Pretty much correct 9 times our of ten. The other tenth someone's hiding something.

Like others have said, I go by a feeling when I meet someone. It usually is when I get a bad feeling. I can't tell more unless I get an instant bad feeling about them.

I try to reserve judgement past the first impression. I remember this one time where I felt quite negatively about a guy I had just met. Then realized that he reminded me of my dad when he was drunk, which I didn't like. So I was just reacting to my dad, not to this guy that I knew nothing about.

I've learned that first impressions aren't always accurate, so I usually give the person a chance to show me what kind of person he or she is. There are some individuals however, that have made such a strong positive or negative impression that I have to go with it ... and it's normally right.
