Forgetting4u made a point in one of the other posts regarding how she does not like flowers. There's a bunch of women I know who does not like flowers. I'm just wonder how prevalent this is among the women on this board.

Are flowers best left at the funeral home where your boyfriend got them? Or do they look real swell on your mantle? Yah or nay?

Personally, I think flowers are wonderful for indiscriminate occasions, but on my birthday or Christmas I need something more substantial from my SO.

There are others that don't like flowers here?

My friends used to say I was weird because I didn't like the typical gift for a woman (flowers, jewelry, candy). With flowers I just don't like the smell, don't want to take care of them and I don't need them to decorate anything around my house, not even the fack ones.

I'm not a present kind of person (though I like wrapping them). I like being with the person and getting to know them more so than what they can figure out to buy me. I find myself having a hard time figuring out what to buy someone so why would I put someone through the same thing.

I DO like cards where something other than the original message and a guy's signature is written on it. My presents can be taking me to a restaurant (try new food or eating my favorite), cook me something (or we cook it together), take a walk/drive(maybe not with these gas prices) with me.

Well I just love flowers, especially orchids. I don't mind receiving them for birthdays. I would preffer that the flowers are real and that they are attached to the plant, so I can take care of them and make them bloom again

god Claudia you remind me of my goddaughter, you guys could be sisters, she's white/mexican mix. But she's like 13 so if she was hanging out here, I'd tell her to get to bed! But she likes asian dudes, she was all into the fact that my boyfriend was Chinese.

I love flowers and I also love getting flowers from a man. That makes me feel cherished, loved and happy:-) It is such nice gesture.

I personally don't care to receive flowers. It might be ok once a year just for an "I love you" gesture. But on my birthday, Valentines Day or Christmas, I don't expect them.

Actually, I am not really a materialistic kinda girl. I just prefer being with a SO on that special day.

I don't even expect to receive a card. However, if a guy made a special card himself, I would cherish that tons more than a store bought one. Or if he drew me a portrait or painting. I appreciate artistic kind of gifts.

I don't care for jewelry being given either... except of course an engagement ring or such.. and I would appreciate a locket with a lock of his hair in it.. or a picture of us both in it. Something very sentimental like that

I do appreciate gifts now and then, and I like giving them too. My xhusband's I-fucked-up gifts or birthday/holiday gifts were usually household oriented and while it may sound unromantic..in the long run, when we split our assets, it was nice to go:

dyson-gift, mine free and clear
kitchen-aid stand mixer-again mine free and clear
oh the dishes! Gifts, mine!
Coffee pot, check
that awesome sensor cook microwave, check
china cabinet check
food saver, check
etc etc.

So when it came time to split the remaining assets it went like this:

couch, bedroom, desktop computer, dining room chairs, lawn mower, entertainment center, to me. I ended up with a fully furnished house. (I took the house and assumed the remainder of the mortgage in leiu of alimony)

and he has, xbox, pinball machine, laptop computer, hundreds of dvds, computer games, xbox games and board games, and some tools, oh and his truck, which was more expensive than the pos I got, but mine runs and gets like 30mpg... I guess he can have lots of fun but no where to sit!

I like to receive flowers on special holidays and occasions like xmas or valentines. Other than that I don't really care for them. Personally I think it's a waste of money. They live for a few days then die. Then the vase it came in becomes a paper weight. lol. I prefer something more practical that one can use.
