I never thought this was an issue till I realize there are different women and different preferences when it comes to paying bills during dating. Some like the men to pay all the time, some like to split, some like to pay in turns . . . There seems to be no rules as the comfort level and sense of fairness are not the same for all women. So I'm asking women here who like Asian men, how do you usually expect Asian men to do at the end of a dinner, at the ticket counter of a movie theater or a concert or museum, etc.? Does a woman's bill paying style say something about her personality/character?

i didnt grow up thinking a "man" should pay for everything, but it's nice when the guy makes the effort and gesture.. i think that tells alot about how the man thinks.. I personally like to have things paid for me, (who wouldn't??) but i don't take advantage of the situation. When i have cash on me, i get the bill no questions asked, and its nice to see a smile on his face every once in awhile.

usually my rule of thumb is WE each pay for our own, unless talked about before the "date"/event"...Then there are times, you want to be kind to your friends and pay for them or vise/versa.. i think its just depends on WHO we are.

I am old-fashioned and because of that I expect the man to pay on a date. But of course I always have money on me in case he doesn't pay but after that I won't date him anymore.

When being exclusive and being in a relationship then of course I will take turns with him, meaning I pay once, the next time him and so on.

What if a man expects to split the bill, a woman expects the man to pay, there will be a problem? It would be nice to talk about it beforehand, but it's an awkward topic with someone you just meet, isn't it?

Yeah, I guess it is an awkward topic.

To me, if someone asks me out, he/she pays.. unless it's one of my friends then we automatically split it. Now, if we end up in an expensive place, I wouldn't feel right with the man paying for all of it. I would definitely offer to split it.

If I ask someone out, I pay. again unless its a friend of mine, then we split it unless one of us says we are paying for all of it.

I guess in order to find out, you have to talk about it.. otherwise, you won't know until you are on the date. lol You might have to approach the subject delicately in order to find out. So, yeah you might have to bite the bullet on that one and risk feeling awkward.

But when it comes to going out to eat-I pay for my own food!
