95% seems too high but because people are so diverse and have so many different likes and dislikes compatability can be very hard to find. I know I didn't answer your question totally but I don't want to say false but to say true is sad to think about.

My guess is, it's probably true, in terms of compatibility.

I believe that figure is too conservative. First of all, 95% of what figure? The world, your country, your town/city?? Even 95% of my city is too low in terms of incompatibility. There was a study done in recent years that alleged each one of us have 50,000 direct compatible opposite sex individuals globally who could be our 'soul mate'. That comes to an approximate 1.25% of my city's population. Certainly less than the 5% deviation percentage given in Seinfeld's joke. I guess the qualifier is "date". Dating does not imply compatibility or soul mate or marriage possibility. So in that sense, 5% who you would date wouldn't be too far off. May sound just about right IMO.

I'd say it's about right..I used to be more optimistic, but damn after joining a dating site, I have to say, most people are just ick!

Some interesting numbers..My profile on this dating site has had approximately 270 replies. I found about 8 so far I am mutually attracted to based on profile information and initial conversation.. and since then 2 more have gotten deleted off that list.

So first impression about 97% passed, allowing for someone without a profile pic might be a viable option, the number could be around 95%. But I wasn't going in without a photo!

But either way, I learned I wasn't ready to date, so I might just have been overly picky to sabotage myself..
