What does it mean to you when you hear...
...the phrase "I have nothing to offer you." Have you ever been on the receiving or speaking end of that phrase? What does it mean when you say it and how do you feel when you're the one receiving it? Under what circumstances would you consider a person a "nothing to offer me" type situation??

I have never experienced this so my answer will be haphazard.
To say it I think it would mean I feel I won't benefit the person in any way. I might feel I am not doing well personally (emotionally, financially) and to be in a relationship wouldn't be a good thing. To have it said to me I would think the person either doesn't want to be with me or he has similar feeling as I posted above or he is in a place where he can't support me emotionally. I would consider a person having nothing to offer me if -they are lacking in education. I mean they haven't tried. I don't need someone that has a master's degree but I want someone that wants to further educate themselves improving what they are doing in their profession, reading to further themselves or something that shows they want more (not sure if I explained this well). -if the person is negative. -if the person is too positive (unrealistically positive) -job, must have one (their are some who lose their job and it sometimes takes sometime to get another one, I don't mean them, I mean the guy living off of someone-this may seem obvious but I know plenty of women that have this guy in their life and they say they love him) I'm sure their are more but I can't think of them right now.

A while back, there was this Chinese guy I met and we clicked right from the start. He broke it off with me because he said he had nothing to offer me and couldn't support me. It really upset me until I realized he was trying to tell me that he couldn't support me like a man in a relationship financially. He was still living with his parents and was going through College. It wasn't because he didn't want me, he just knew he couldn't take care of me (not that I was expecting that anyway). Well, since I was in the same position pretty much, there was nothing I could do but move on.
I have not said it to anyone myself. There were however, a couple of guys that loved me and wanted more but I didn't feel the same way about them. So I guess that can be said of that in a way.
