I thought I would post this in an area where both sexes could put their opinion in. If it is in the wrong area, please move it.



The girl who my cousin has a crush on asked me why guys can't get the hint. She receives text messages on the regular from a boy who lives in another state. She met him during the summer through her best friend. She liked him then a little bit, but when she got back home she felt differently. And now, this guy texts her to ask her out on dates or say when he's in town. She never responds and he doesn't get the hint. So I told her that she needs to tell him that he's making her uncomfortable and he needs to stop contacting her. Guess what she says... "No! That's mean!"

Girls- Don't feel bad about a guy who you don't like. If he's making you uncomfortable by his advances, he obviously doesn't care about how YOU feel. So why should you care about what he will feel when you tell him the truth? Rejection is a part of life-stop dragging your feet in the situation and take care of it!

Guys-If a girl doesn't respond get over it and leave her the hell alone!


Guys would you not rather a girl tell you she is not interested instead of ignoring you?

And girls, if you were in the guy's shoes, would you not like to know the status of the relationship that you "think" is happening instead of being shut out? Why do you think that women have the hardest time telling someone that they are not interested?

Depends on how old they are. I know when to back off and leave it at that, but that's just cause I have experience. Dating is whole different game when you're older. Something goes wrong on a first date, you figure it out, and know where it stands. If he's younger, he's just trying to be persistent, and he probably thinks she's playing hard to get. Remember, half the fun in getting a girl is trying to get that girl.

A reason why girls don't come right out and say they aren't interested is they don't want to come off as mean. They don't want the guy to do the angry routine with them, calling them names or what not. So the girl will do the ignore/avoid things in the hopes the guy will get the hint, which a lot don't. Maybe some of us girls need to "grow some balls" and just come out and say it but its hard to do when there is the unknown factor of the guys sanity.

I would just out and say it. or you could say "I have a boyfriend".. or you could say "I am not interested in having a BF right now, I have other things going on in my life".. these are all things I have used myself. Sometimes it's about saying the right thing with TACT. lol

I think the best thing to do is just be straight forward and say it. It might suck in the short term but in the long time I think it saves a lot of trouble and aggravation. (Like the sort she's having now.)

Of course it is much clearer for a man if the lady says, "i'm just not that into you." But that is not how we as women are trained by society to behave. We try to spare others' feelings and just withdraw from the nuisance. No one wants to risk a fight or hurt feelings and ugly words. Men do it all the time. How many women have wasted time waiting for the guy you thought you hit it off with to call you? I have certainly been there and if I don't hear from a man within a certain time period and if when I say I'll be in his area he is always busy-I get the hint. This guy your cousin was dealing with is just being purposely dense about this. He knows he is being avoided unless he's crazy or foolish. In both of those cases, she should just say she found someone else or has developed a hobby that is keeping her superbusy. Both would be the truth-she simply got a life.
