I read this on another forum but I'm sure all of us have come across this type of person at one time or another whehter friend, lover or foe. How would you handle a person like this if it's not a relationship or something serious. Even come across some types that are good people, nice personality, etc. but still they fault on lies or little white ones. Experiences, opinions?

Maybe I'm too uptight but I can't deal with a liar, small or otherwise. The little ones can always lead to bigger ones and if you ignore/let go of the little ones then what will you accept later or won't even know you are accepting.

I had a friends that would tell little lies. To me the little lies just keep adding up and up until I couldn't take it. I let the friendship go. If you can't even tell me the truth on little things then you don't trust me.

Now what you posted as an example maybe the difference in men telling the truth in dating (sorry if I'm wrong or offending men). From what I have learned from guys, saying little things like that isn't really being dishonest, it is just trying to avoid an arguement or trouble with your SO because some SO can't always handle the truth.--Now this statement is not meant to represent all male SO or female SO but rather some based of a few opinions I've gotten from guys.

I don't understand her. She is saying herself that this relation(ship) is nothing serious for her. Why does she worry about it at all then? This is a clear case of saying "Next"!

I absolutely hate when people swear on the lives of others!! Why can't that person effing swear on their own lives?! That pisses me off. If anyone ever told me that they swore on the lives of their family, I already know that they are full of BULLSHIT. Only liars use that lame line.

Why do people lie? These are my reasons:

1. Compulsive lying. An actual psychiatric disorder.

2. They may hiding something and don't want to come clean.

3. Fear and that may contribute to reason #2.

4. Convenience for their lives and how they want you to fit in it. i.e manipulation.

5. Game playing,some people actually enjoy this. For thrills. How much can they get away with.

6. The so-called white lie. They don't want to hurt your feelings by telling the truth so they tell you want they think you want to hear.

7. The lie of omission. By not telling you anything, they haven't really lied since they never said anything and you never asked.

8. The lie to tell you anything to get you off their back. The back-off nag lie so you'll shut up and won't bug him.

I'm sure there are more but these are the ones I come up with.

Is there really such thing as white lie? I don't think so,but who really knows?? Depends from whose POV..
