Hey guys. I'm currently in a dilemma. I figured I might be able to get some fresh ideas from people other than my usual circles of friends so uh ... take a look at the note and please share your thoughts with me!

So here goes with the actual problem I've got:

Heyo,

I'm strapped for cash but I'm supposed to be moving to Manhattan at the beginning of August with my girlfriend. I'm hesitant on the whole thing because I've caught her in several lies to me about several things yet she claims to be madly in love with me.

Now, I've considered it and many of my friends have also told me that it would be more intelligent to simply drop the girl and start fresh but I can't bring myself to do it which I find strange because I'm usually a very willful, assertive person.

One friend who I talked to about it told me that it seems like I'm head over heels for the chick and that's why I've been "soft" on her.

I'm on the lookout for a job for my remaining time here as well as a job in NYC so I can start right when I arrive. The advantage I have is that the first month is already paid for so I have extra time to continue saving up.

I was hoping that you guys had some suggestions or helpful advice that might direct me towards how to deal with the situation I'm in or how I might be able to generate extra income.

I know that lots of people who posted were unclear on what the actual lies were since I didn't disclose them so I'll throw it up here so people can better understand the situation.

Well, I met her at a party a while ago up here in Mass since she normally lives/goes to college in Florida. We started talking on the phone lots then we've been pulling this long distance relationship business for a few months now.

Three times now, she's said she was going to come see me in Boston and three times now it's turned out that it was a lie. As of recently she told me that she'd lied to me because she was very well off when I met her but since her parents were divorced, which I did know about, her father left and was basically like "FU" to her and her mother so now she's flat broke cuz her old man was the one who brought home the bacon.

The tentative plans of moving in together in Manhattan are because she's transferring from a college down there to NYU. That part, I'm pretty sure is true because I spoke to her father. Then again, she could still be lying about all that and she found a guy with a deep voice to pose as her dad.

She said she never told me because she was afraid I wouldn't want her anymore and that she didn't want to disappoint me. What do you think of that? :/

Ok Dave, let me ask you a couple of questions so I can better answer you.

Are you moving to Manhattan into HER place? or are you moving together into a new place?

Well here's my two cents!

I know it's impractical for people, who don't even know you, to tell you to drop the girl. I mean, you obviously like her a lot, but liars never seem to change... People who lie about small things will most likely lie about really important situations.What I would do is sit down with her and talk to her about the lies you have caught her in and tell her that lying even about the small things in life concerns you. If you explain yourself to her and if she is as mature as you think she is, she should understand your concerns and try to change her impulse to lie.
But if she doesn't take it well immaturity plays a big part in that and honestly, you shouldn't waste your time on someone who isn't ready to be honest.

liars don't change. I was married to one for 8 years. It just gets worse, till they even think they're telling the truth. Not worth it.

depending on your age! you can NOT go live with someone in another city just off of love.. i think you need to find more security for yourself! before you get both of yourselves.. in a situation you can't afford.. worse yet.. STUCK with one another, if things dont go right.

when the relationship is right, then the right things seem to happen, if you find yourself struggling and one sided.. more then likely.. thats what it is one sided..

as for her little white lies, what are they? and why? maybe she isnt mature enough to handle a relationship to tell you the truth. UP to you, how you would want to continue this..

extra cash for the next month??? .. who would hire you for a month? you need more realistic goals.
