Just out of curiosity, how much importance do you place on a guy's intellect as opposed to his looks/physical appearance?

And for those who say that brains are important, how would you like his intelligence to be manifested?

- Sense of humour / wit

- Ability to laugh at himself in a witty way

- General knowledge about the world / ability to teach you stuff

- Professional knowledge and success in his job

- Being well-read and literate i.e. has read alot of novels, classics, etc and can allude to literature when commenting on daily life

- Being perceptive (not in the "feelings" kinda way.. we're talking solely about intellect here)

- Being analytical and having an ability to reason about stuff

- Academic intelligence, highly educated and has been to top colleges etc


Which of the above kinds of "intelligence" are the most important to you?

Of course I first see what he looks like and then I determine whether or not I am attracted to him or not. But I would definitely say that the sexiest part of a guy is his brain! I just seem to be attracted to engineers... lol How's that for academics? My first boyfriend had an amazing sense of humor, that even though I did not find him physically attractive- it really didn't matter.

brain.. brains.. brains.. lol, a good heart as well. looks play no part in my choice.. but i find the people i'm attracted to WHO are beautiful on the outside are beautiful on the inside.. so lucky me!!

Most important to me is the sense of humor and he should laugh about the same things I do.

General knowledge and being able to teach me stuff...no, that is not important.

Awww no, being highly educated is not important at all. Would be nice if he'd be at least as intelligent as I am or at least not much less.

Professional knowledge and success in his job, unimportant. It is enough to be as good in the job as to not get fired, but probably I see it that way because that is how I am. I am not ambitious and usually don't like people who are because the people who are ambitious would go over dead bodies and take their jobs much too serious. I don't live to work after all. A job is just there to make a living but that is my opinion.

If he'd be well-read and literate, it would be just great because I love books and literature and love to talk about them even though in literature a guy could still teach me a lot

I'll shake things up a bit here and admit I usually end up with the dumb ones. I enjoy being the smart one in a relationship, its a dynamic I'm comfortable with.
But seriously, a good sense of humor goes the longest way with me. I like laughing more than I like learning any day. Exceptional intelligence is pleasant in small doses, but it can become tedious and condescending to have a man constantly try educate you...especially if you're not interested in the subject matter.

The right man for me has to be intelligent. I am attracted to philisophical type guys. He must be able to see things below the surface, have a good heart and be confident in himself. He doesn't have to have the highest College degree ever, but he needs to be intelligent. I would get bored pretty fast with a guy that does not have knowledge, because I wouldn't be able to have a decent conversation with him. I also am attracted to men that have a big love for life in general and can be optimistic most of the time. I just love that. A man who can see the beauty in things a lot of people don't see.

Like anyone else, sure I appreciate a good-looking man, but if that is all he is, I won't stay with him. It takes A LOT more than looks to keep me there.

It's a big added bonus if he has a great sense of humour. I love to laugh and it's wonderful if a guy can laugh with me, or if he is the one that makes me laugh a lot.

I don't really like brawn but I like a guy that is concerned about his health but "brains" can win over a lot. I like a guy that is well rounded in his intelligences. Being a person that has of all the things frisky listed makes a guy very attractive to me but he doesn't have to be a master in all of them just some general knowledge.
