I hear about this sometimes, especially in Japan. Some husbands just don't sleep with their wives, even though the wife wants to. What do you think about that? Is it fair? Or does a husband have a duty to do it with the missus?

And if you are thinking Splitsville, then what about the kids? What about the marriage vows? Is there a custom/cultural background to this? I noticed the same thing with some asian couples here in the west so not necessarily a Japanese thing..

I was reading an article about how some men have very low sex drive, mostly to do with having lots of work and family responsibilities. If it's okay for the wife to have a low sex drive, I would think it's okay for the husband as well. Though in either situation, I tend to think there are other, more serious issues in the marriage than just lack of sex.

do you mean sleep right next to each other or sleep as in sexually? Sorry if its a dumb question. I think its normal if some couples don't have sex with one anotehr constantly, but once in a while. I know of some people who hadn't had sex in twenty+ years...

No, I don't think that the husband has a duty to have sex with his wife. I never liked the idea of sex being a duty anyway because it is really sick to me to HAVE TO have sex with a person just because one is married to him/her.

So in my opinion he is free not to have sex with his wife but she is also free to leave him because of that.

If I'd be in that situation, I would leave him for sure if he would only have a low sex drive with me, his wife and would even sleep around with others.

But I think there is a difference. If he just has a low sex drive in general and only lately, I would have a serious talk with him to find out what causes it and then go from there.

And what about the kids? The kids have nothing to do with my happiness in marriage. If Mama and Daddy have such serious problems as said above they need to get a divorce. It is a simple as that.

And the marriage vows? Well, I think no one has to take it that their partner cheats on them or has sex with others. To me he broke the marriage vows already by doing so.

In many societies, having sex is only conduit for having children. Once that husbandry "duty" is done the couple doesn't necessarily sleep with each other for fear of getting pregnant again or other reasons. Sometimes the wife just can't stand the husband's hygiene and kicks him out. LOL. Laugh, but it is true... and I've heard it from relatives, etc. Solution? They may not sleep with each other but have separate bedrooms in same house. This is very common in asian households, more than you may think! Where does this originate from, custom, etc? Don't know.. maybe we have an expert on asian social cultural history.

If me and my bf/husband stopped sleeping together, I would know something is up. I am sorry but I can't view that as a relationship anymore no matter what Culture it is. Love making to me is a very important part of the relationship. If that stops, then we may as well just be friends.
