I hate games, like really hate them. If I like someone I'm always really straight up about this. The last thing I'm going to do is play hard to get or do the whole 'treat em mean keep em keen'

OK, better give you my personal example. I went out to a dance party 2 weeks ago, and a friend of a friend, wanted to go but couldn't afford to. So, I bought him a ticket, even though I didn't know him at all. It wasn't like a date or anything, I was just being nice as people have done similar stuff for me in the past. We hooked up at the dance party, then he came over the next night and we made out. It was really close, intimate and nice, and the next day I thought we'd probably hang out more. He ignored me for a week and then we went out last Friday with him and had some dinner ... I said to him straight up "Hey, I like you, you know that right?" .... but he seems to be into the idea of not being very forthcoming about how he feels. Maybe I'm being too aggressive, but this is what I have always done, and it's usually been fine.

People say women can smell desperation from a mile away and that'd it's really unnattractive ... but do women really want the complete opposite of this?

Given the choice, would you rather someone plays hard to get, or is just really straight up with you?

It's hard to say that you were too aggressive, since he did agree to make out with you. Who knows why he is now being a cold fish. It could be many reasons.

Personally, I prefer someone that is straight up. It is very refreshing. Life is too short to waste time on games that lead nowhere. In general, it might be better not to deal with people that like these kind of games.

And is it really true that women can smell desperation from a mile away? I never heard of that. Are there any telltale clues that one should be aware of--hypothetically speaking of course?

I'm not a guy, but being straightforward with your feelings has nothing to do with desperation.

I am always straight up. I can't stand stupid games. It drives me batty not knowing where I stand, so I can imagine it would bug the hell out of someone else too.

It is okay if a guy is straight forward. A guy is supposed to pursue a woman and being straight forward isn't desperation of him.

I like being straight forward. The problem I see with the above scenario is that you didn't say you were interested in him *before* you made out with him -- so he definitely got the message that you were sexually interested, but wouldn't necessarily assume you were interested in dating him (which is probably why he didn't assume you two would hang out the next day). But now that you've told him you're interested, the ball is in his court and it's up to him to decide whether he's interested in you as a makeout buddy, a girlfriend, or none of the above. Good luck!
