I don't understand this. In different countries they raise dogs and cats just as we do cattle. It is considered completely appropriate, and if foriegners can't accept that then they should stay in their own country!

PS I would never eat it personally, but find nothing wrong with it.

I agree with WyteAnjal but I understand why they would do it. Since so many people and cultures will be there, if people are afraid they will be eating something they don't want to, they may only buy food that is imported which wouldn't help the revenue I'm sure the government is hoping to bring in.

Also, just because the government makes this statement, doesn't mean the people will follow it but then again this is China (sorry if that isn't nice to say).

I heard dogs taste good....if they are anything like bears it would be very tasty....I've had both black bear...and mystery bear meat that was probably a grizzly.

Overwhelmingly most game meat eaters prefer rodents to all meat...Rabbits and Ground hogs are common in north america.

did you see the other "laws" for the chinese in china? only 3 colors to an outfit, no white socks with black shoes, no pj's worn outside, and no spitting. I'm kinda thankful for the latter though.
