These pictures show real snow crystals that fell to earth in Northern Ontario, Alaska, Vermont, the Michigan Upper Peninsula, and the Sierra Nevada mountains of California. They were captured by Kenneth G. Libbrecht using a specially designed snowflake photomicroscope.

The geometric symmetry is outstanding. What nature can do and what mankind take decades to define through math and science.

I love snowflakes. When it snows I run out and wait till my hands are frozen so I can look at the snowflakes a good winter snow when they are fluffy and big you can actually see the design.. Like when I was in PA the snow flakes were HUGE

They are all so beautiful. The very last one looks quite different. I wonder why it is so dark.
