China is suffering its coldest weather in decades, with severe snowstorms in many parts of the country.
The weather has affected millions of people trying to return to their home villages in time for the Chinese New Year.

Standing room only:

An Renbin family
We're going back to Guangzhou, but we heard the situation there is really bad. I don't know whether our train will leave on time.
It was really difficult to get tickets. We are definitely going to get back for Spring Festival. The only thing is we got the tickets without seats, so we'll have to stand for 20 hours.

'Just desperate'

20-year-old travelling to Changsha
I was so lucky to get this ticket. I had been queuing for two days without sleeping at ticket agents, and was just desperate and ready to give up.
But my mum called and said she misses me very much, so I dragged all my luggage here to try my luck and I got a ticket from someone who returned his.

Road conditions

Migrant worker travelling to Lanzhou
I came to the station earlier this morning, and there was such a long queue.
I got the train ticket alright, but I'm really worried about the road conditions after I arrive. There's still a long ride back to my hometown, and I heard that the snow has blocked the roads.

Refund

Migrant worker travelling to Binzhou
I'm queuing to get a refund for my ticket. My train was cancelled yesterday, so I just have to wait and see when there's going to be a new one.
I don't know whether I'll be able to go back home, and there's nothing I can do.

Delays

Cai Yanhong, travelling to Xishui
My daughter and I were suppose to be leaving at 1100, but it's been five hours and they didn't give us any idea of when we'll be able to leave.
I don't think we'll cancel the tickets and stay here, because my daughter misses home so much that she insists on staying, no matter what.
