I'm just curious... what's your definition of a 'loser?' Can it be someone who is classified as crazy (or, as they say, a chemical imbalance in the brain? Someone who is, or appears to be, lonely? Not being popular? Someone who is different, or can't fit in? Being lazy? Mentally disabled? Evil? Or is it someone who has just made a mistake in life (possibly one to many? If that was the case then many others here, possibly are looked upon as 'losers'.

If these are typical qualities found within a 'loser', and one were to fall into one of these, how would this individual be able change for the better (if they wanted to live more productive lives? I'm assuming all of us went to school, most of us have been to university but its safe to say we have all been to threw an organized education system. But yet, something still lacks. We've all been termed as losers at one point or another in our lives.

Let's bring this to light, shall we? What say you all, personal examples?

That term has become so common place that everyone uses it loosely. I've heard it used in most cases that you mentioned, but has been used against myself when I had contradicted myself, being a hypocrite or just being mean.

Solution: Think before you act or speak, and strive to better oneself or get a vasectomy and get a darwin award

Definition of a LOSER to me is:

A guy that doesn't have a job BUT doesn't want to work either. I don't mean if he is out of a job because he is studying or he has been laid off. I mean a guy that has no ambition to work and better himself as a man etc.

To me a loser is a guy that treats women badly, is arrogant, thinks he is always right, doesn't do things to better himself inside as a person. A man that criticises everyone else but doesn't live up to the standards he puts on everyone else. You know the type? The guy that thinks, "Everyone has to do what I say and think is right; except me". God, those type of people royally piss me off. Makes me want to kick them in the ass.

I'm not sure that I have a definition for 'loser'. I've never considered myself to be a loser, and I don't think I've labeled anyone else as a loser either. Of course I've probably used other labels when I'm pissed off at someone.

I agree with this point. To put it more precisely, I call someone "loser" when that person is "lost" and will not try to find the destination and purpose of his or her existence. I am hardly an existentialism philosopher, but I really admire those who live upto what Sartre once said: "Men accidentally find themselves standing on their feet, and they must THEN decide why they are there." Sure, I often meet those 20 some years old guys that are still partying and never doing anything more than "just enough to get by" to buy themselves boozes and girls. I am very friendly to them, and I never talk down to them either...but I will tell you they will not win my respect.

I think a loser is someone that doesn't try, give up and never gets back up ever, doesn't try to turn his life around after a bad(s) turn. A person can be a loser but get out of it. If the person just stays there the title of loser will stay as well. This doesn't include people that are mental unstable. I feel they can't be given that name since they can't control their mental disability.

This is a general statement and I'm sure I could have typed more to explain myself more or confuse myself and others but I don't feel like it.

Keep in mind points brought up here apply to BOTH men and women. Loser is not specifically a male dominated term. In fact I bet it was guys who coined the term first used it at other males and females.

The definition of a loser when it comes to a guy for me is:

1.) A man that still lives with his mother when he is 26+.
2.) When the woman becomes his mother- by taking care of him.
3.) A man who can not hold a job.
4.) A man whose "manliness" depends solely on who he can make feel insignificant and engage in belittling others. Or if his manliness only exists online.
5.) A man who preys on his parents' demise in order to gain his inheritance, so he can sit on his lazy ass some more.
