I plan on moving to the Bay Area

How's the dating scene for Asian guys in the Bay Area? I have been there twice, but only for a two-day tour of the city. THe second time was for an interview for school.

I want to transfer school, and the school I'm eye-ing is in the downtown San Francisco area.

I currently live in the midwest, and it sucks living here with a bunch of rednecks. IR dating is also considered a taboo here. Although I see a good handful of AF/WM couples or BM/WF couples every now and then.

Alpha,

I've been to SF last year and I had a blast..first time too. Cold in the am. You got a mixture of poor, middle and rich class all around the densely packed area. It is like NY all rolled into one. You might say.... "I left my heart at SF" the way Tony Bennett sings it. I like Little Italy and ChinaTown. Fisherman's Wharf has a good crowd on the weekends. Russian Hill has a a small area...too. You are basically in the right place at the right time with so much activity.

Check out SFGate, online version of San Francisco Chronicle. They list many articles and activities aimed towards the asian community in reagrds to social events, dating, dining out, etc. Asian Week is good for local reviews, events. It's based in the Bay Area also. Only been there once but that was years ago. What swede says is pretty much accurate.

Nice place to live. I know tons of guys from college who live there. Tons of asians there, very mosaic multi-cutlural environment. You won't feel left out being asian unlike other parts of the country.

Cool, thanks Mr Sweden, Sami and Akron for the information and advice on San Francisco. I have been there twice, but it was only for two day trip, or for an interview. So I never really got to check out the city and do any sight-seeing "tourist" activities. My hotel was in the Sunset district at the time I was in the Bay Area.

Nevertheless, I will check the San Fran chronicle for the activities when I move there. I hope to move there next summer!

I'm a native from SF....My sis is still there.

Depends on you're tax bracket I'd recommend totally different residential advice...so that can wait till you really need it.

It's where mixed couples of any race can some what live without any feeling of oddness. Prolly the only place in the US where you would feel almost zero racial ignorance...(almost) Good food. East bay has cheap groceries. (berkeley bowl, monterey market in berkeley is bomb...or more like baaaauuumm)

You don't care about the organics chinese markets on clement street is the shit. Walk out with two sack arm full of veggies and some for 15 bucks.

I've lived there almost most of my life. at least most of my early childhood and after I went to college. I miss the cost...abalone diving is only good around 2 hr north of SF, in that 100 mile stretch of cost... nowhere else in the US...or canada for that matter.

I left because it got kinda middle american for a while...lots of people moved there from the middle and racism increased, The bay area lost it's magic for about a decade in the early 90's. Traffic is still bad but things have toned down from what I hear.

I miss my friends.
