I am having a difficult time finding a pair that'll fit properly. Can anybody recommend a pair that'll an Asian face properly? I like aviators and I like them big. Try to be as specific as possible. Brand, model, etc.

Asian faces tend to be wider in the upper half than causcasian head shapes. Stay away from Oakley, they are useless as far as the fitting goes for asians. Way too narrow and for basically a piece of plastic not even worth a quarter the money they gouge. Best thing is to go to an asian optometrist that specializes in sunglasses. You live in TO. That should be easy; tons of locales in and around all the chinatowns. I've tried most major designer brands and for quality aviator sunglasses with wide frames you're looking at Giorgio Armani, Maui Jims, Burberry, D&G, Chanel - essentially all the big names at the higher end. It's the quality of glass, layered coating (more the better), anti-reflective material, polarization, history of the manufacturer. If they don't fit straight off the counter they adjust them to fit. A good store I recommend is Superb Optical. They know their stuff. I dealt with them for approx. 15 yrs. Send me a pm if you need more info. But if you really need Oakley and Ray Ban run of the mill stuff, they sell/order those too.

What the hell's an asian face? The sunnies that suits me won't suit my mates or vice versa.

Personally I wear Aviators from Ray Ban! Old school but you can't go wrong! I have the black frame with black lense, but I reckon the gold frame with the black lense or silver frame with mirror lense is hot as!

You can't go wrong with a nice pair of Aviators! I don't think I have seen anyone not pull it off before!

Can't you get good sunglasses for asians in the same places that you get the bowl haircuts?

Diversification hasn't hit all bowl haircut places. Ancient chinese secret... hmmm??

It will depend on your nose bridge and the fit of the glasses. If you don't have enough of a nose bridge to support the glasses you have trouble unless you use something to help it fit. Both my husband and sun have this problem. My father in-law doesn't. Typically, Asians can have a different bridge hence Asian face.

Hmph. Unless I am outdoors doing my bike-racing or just staying long (extended hours) in the sun, I actually try to stay away from Shades as much as I can...why wouldn't you want to show off your eyes?

At least no one is making the dental floss joke.
