This is the opposite of Laby_Blitz's thread 'Do Males Hate each other?' I think this is more true than males hating each other anyway.

Case in point: A very intelligent and observant Japanese lady friend of mine told me that "all women secretly hate each other" and then said that's the reason why women gossip, compete and sometimes turn on each other, sometimes when the situation involves guys. It wasn't clear if she was specifically referring to Japanese women or women generally by nature, so I left the question open ended.

Anyway, I just didn't know what to make of what she thinks, so I decided to put it to the POLL: Do you agree with her?

Yes/No and why. Site examples. heh.

I think it's present in certain people and situations.

*There are some women who may hate all women. Maybe this lady friend was one of them.
*There are situations where women are in competition for a job, a man, who want to feel more precious than peers perhaps.
*No one likes a bitter bitch, could be a personality issue rather than gender to blame and no one likes the person in question.

Sometimes I feel the way women are socialized to express themselves it can cultivate an air of passive aggression where things get too involved and overanalyzed. Bad communication could account for the idea of hating each other. The women I grow close to tend to be very loving people, yet very self-sufficient.

I think females in general have problems with jealousy. And when it comes to someone who they may see as prettier or better than them, then the passive aggressive crap starts. You know, like insults disguised as compliments, them ignoring you at all costs, or they take things that you may say or do completely out of context and explode them to be things that they are not, or my personal favorite-they believe that they are the center of your thoughts and assume that every little thing you say is somehow magically directed at them... That always gives me a good laugh and smile on my face.

In the past, I was lucky enough to not have had many of these problems, but lately I have been having trouble... You know, some women don't like not being the center of attention. But hey, I don't play that game and don't intend to. I have plenty to look forward to: I'm in my early 20s and I'm starting a career so sorry to them, but I have a lot more to worry about than their feelings. Once you learn to worry about yourself and what you do and how you conduct yourself- then you know what the meaning of being "grown up" is.

So to answer your question, yes women hate each other, sometimes.
