Let's hear it! What's the strangest weird ass foods you've eaten whether from your culture or another ethnic group??

The weirdest thing I have eaten thus far is frog legs. I once almost tried escargo but I couldn't get myself to put it in my mouth. Ewwww..

Actually, I have eaten snails before. My father is french. So I am used to a lot of those french foods. I have also eaten frog legs. Both dishes are actually nice.

I have eaten octapus before too. I had an opportunity to try some snake before, but I didn't like the smell of it. Tried deer before too but it tasted too wild. Not my thing.

At a sushi restaurant near me, I ate a baby octopus (whole!)...my bf made me, crazy boy

I also ate this fungus "sea anemone" looking-food in China...it had no taste and was thickly crunchy...weird!

I also was served blood bars (pork blood) for my hot pot in China, W..T..F.. -- no way would I eat that

Ok, I could possibly handle the octopus, and maybe take a nibble of the fungus thingie but there is no way in HELL I would eat blood bars *shudders*. Put that near my face and it wouldn't be longer than a New York minute, when you would hear a thump and turn to see me at a dead faint on the floor. YUCK!!!

Blood Bars! YES! I remember loving that when I was a kid in Taiwan. Vendors lined the streets and they kept them warm in a big container. Those were coagulated pigs' blood on a stick, like a popsicle. Man I would never touch that today. But back then, it was like having a hot-dog.

My parents also tricked me once when we were in "Snake Alley" in Taipei. They told me it was "chicken". I didn't know why I believed them since the whole street was full of live and dead snakes. The dead ones were hung on racks like belts in a store!

My uncle took me to some small outlaying HK island. Mostly older folks there and the remote village operated like it never left the 18th century. Houses were built in a square maize with small concrete walkways and water/sewage gutters on both sides. The village folk wore black and the old style pyramidal farming hats which reminds you of the rice paddies during the Vietnam war era. Well, we walked into one of those small eateries. The only modern thing was the coca-cola cans the women folk lugged from the mainland. Anyway, we sat down and ate this porridge. It was ok and they had what look like black strips of meat that tasted like plain unseasoned fish. I asked what it was. My uncle asked too. He was told it was BAT WINGS!! Ugh!! I literally took it out of mouth with my fingers and spit whatever else was left in mouth into the nearest waste can. My uncle and the owners laughed out loud. Damn them! Damn them all I said. LOLz.

I just ate veggies and diet coke the rest of the meal. Argh!

It would have to be the Filipino dish with pig blood in it... That was the weirdest thing I've had.

I try to stay away from the exotic foods. Though I did try what I was told was a sea slug at a Japanese restaurant. It had a not too appetizing texture. Discounting all the bugs and spiders I've probably eaten while asleep, I will not knowingly eat anything outside of beef, chicken, pork and some sea/shell fish.

I'll live vicariously through you folks who eat meals a la Fear Factor.
