Abebe Bikila, known as the "barefoot marathon runner". Double gold medalist 1960-64 Olympics. Still considered one the greatest marathon runners ever. It was his performances that sparked the inspiration for his fellow countrymen into long distance running, with many ethiopians dominating long distance track and marathon competitions.
